Leaders from the Kuria region have vowed to work with the ministry of gender and youth affairs to ensure they end female genital mutilation by 2022.

Led by Kuria West MP Mathias Robi and Nominated MP Denitah Ghati, the leaders said they will ensure President Uhuru Kenyatta’s directive of ending FGM by 2022 is met.

Robi urged Kuria residents to direct their energy towards the education of the girl child.

He warned those found engaging in or aiding FGM of dire consequences if caught.

Denitah Ghati on the other hand said the president’s directive was a sign that he had the Kuria girls at heart.

They were speaking during the launched of 16 days of activism against gender based violence in Kehancha town.
