Kehancha residents are planning major demonstrations against Migori County Government and Governor Okoth Obado over the poor conditions of Kehancha District Hospital.

Earlier on Friday a massive demonstration organised by Bukira East MCA Mathew Chacha to compel Migori county government to act on certain salient health issues at Kehancha district hospital was aborted indefinitely.

Chacha said the demonstration was called off till Monday after county executive Committee member of Health Elijah Odhiambo appeal to give time to the county government to act on their demands.

“Demonstration plans are still on to push the county government to address serious health issues at Kehancha district hospital,” he said.

He said services offered at the health center are poor and want better and quality srvices from county government.

“We have been complaining of poor services yet the county government has been reluctant to address our complains,” he said.

“We deserve better services like other residents of Migori County and so the county government must act promptly as we pay our taxes,” Chacha said.

He said they have honored request to call off the demonstrations but will be on the streets of Kehancha town on Monday morning.

Kuria East police boss Gladys Ogonda said they have issued permission for demonstration as “the constitution grants anyone to hold a peaceful demonstration.”
