Rakwaro Catholic catechist commits suicide after wife leaves

Rakwaro village in  Rongo sub-county of Migori county was thrown into confusion when the Catholic Church catechist in the area.

Paul Ochuodho Mbogo committed suicide by hanging himself over domestic and family feuds.

The Catechist, according to his mother Cecilia Adoyo Mbogo was a jovial and hardworking man whose death hit them so hard.

They were in their daily activities when she was informed that Ochuodho had hanged himself leaving a suicidal note which was taken by Rongo police officers.

According to his brother Francis Auma Mbogo, the Catechist residing in Mitwe area of Rakwaro village with his family was shocked when they found his body dangling in his sitting room at midday of last weekend.

A family representative Paul Denga blamed the incident on the wife whom he said fled years ago leaving the deceased with depression and burden of taking care of their three children.


Confirming the incident, East Kamagambo assistant chief Mary Ocholla said Ochuodho had financial constraints which made him take such action.

She asked the family members to amicable seek for counselling and to consult with friends whenever they are cornered in such messes.


The body is in Rongo mortuary as police carry on further investigations.
