Political Scientists Kenneth Okech has joined the race to replace Ochillo Ayacko as Migori’s fourths senator in 2022 general elections.
Speaking to Migori News, Okech said he has looked at the current crop of aspirants who seek to vie for the senate seat and feels Migori residents will get a raw deal at the ballot which informed his candidature.
“I have critically analysed as a social scientist several aspirants who want to be Migori senator and i have realised voters should never get a raw deal at the ballot, which informed my decision,” Okech said.
Okech said he said the senator seat requires crop of leaders who understand key tenets of devolution and are out to safeguard them dearly to benefit all residents.
“As a senator i will ensure money is used prudently in the county in addition to deftly negotiate in the senate funds to be allocated and disbursed promptly in counties,” Okech said.
He said he will vie for the seat under the ODM party ticket.
Okech is a political science lecturer in several Kenya universities with the latest stint being at Kenya Methodist University.
In 2013 during the onset of devolution, the youthful politician vied for Kanyasa MCA seat before briefly joining the Migori County Assembly as Head of Research and Information where he left to join the academic world.
