Migori governor aspirant on ODM ticket Robert Kenedy Okong’o has taken the campaign trail by a storm by rolling out 40 motorbikes to be distributed across 40 wards in the entire county.

Central Sakwa Ward, the aspirant home ward had fixtures which attracted up to 12 teams from several stages to compete for a motorbike ultimate price in a tag-of-war games at Obama Primary School.

The fixtures will be done across all wards with groups from each stages in wards giving eight members to compete in tag-of-war.

“We have called on stages which are registered to take part in the tag of war, and in Central Sakwa the winner had the motorbike logbook directly registered to the group, this is just a glimpse on how my adminstration will empower the sector,” Okong’o said.

He said the matches have been built around peace and offering solution for youths instead of using them to cause chaos and create mayhem.

“We promised to have new way of doing things and spurring development in Migori, this is the first of such gestures,” he said.

“We have the main agenda of unganisha jamii, boresha maisha. we have started with boda boda sector but we will soon move to youths taxi and fishing industrry,” he said.

He said they will also distribute boats, welding machines, car wash machines and even posho mills across the county.

Celebration mood by winners

Frankline Odhiambo, Awendo boda boda Riders Association secretary and chairman James Owiro lauded the move in Awendo which they said was best on peace building and having development agenda.

“We have been grappling with issues of insecurity in Awendo, we are happy we have found a leader who picked a platform to empower our mebers,” Odhiambo said.

He said they will ensure they have peaceful tournament across Awendo four wards.

“We are graceful because winners have the motorbikes registered under their legal registered groups, this will encourage other stages to register to be recognised for opportunities,” Owiros said.
