Nominated MP Dennitah Ghati has taken up vote hunting for her Woman Representative bid in 2022 with a massive Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) registration drive in Kuria region.

The exercise in both Kuria East and Kuria West constituency will also help set up the ground for the party leader Raila Odinga 2022 presidential bid.

“We are here to popularise the party and ensure our presidential candidate gets maximum votes that will steer him to presidency. We are also countering the narrative that the Jubilee party has infiltrated the region,” Ghati told journalists during a membership recruitment exercise at Kegongabtown in Kuria West.

Despite Kuria region being seen as a Jubilee turf, the drive and aggressive registration will seek to have the Kuria East and Kuria West constituencies to be brought back to ODM fold.

The former Migori women representative said the party seeks to register 100,000 new members in Migori ahead of the 2022 general elections.

So far, the ODM party has registered 9,000 new members front the region as it seeks to register 100,000 by the end of the year.

“We will ensure the region’s votes are consolidated behind Odinga and other ODM county candidates in both local and county seats,” Ghati said.

Kuria East ODM branch chairman Chacha Shantawa said the community was warming to Odinga’s presidency as “he is the only safest hands president Kenyatta can leave Kenyans in.”

We have realised as a community that it is only Mr Odinga that can steer the country forward and that’s why we are keen on rallying our community behind his candidature,” he said.
