Patients suffer as Migori Referral hospital casual workers on go-slow over 10 months pay

Patients at Migori Referral Hospital have been treated to poor services as 71 casual workers are on a go slow over 10 months salaries arrears.

County Workers Union Secretary General Sylvance Araja said attempts by the workers, union and stakeholders to reach to county government for the pay has failed.

He said services has been affected as some workers have left their station while others have initiated a go slow.

“We have patients have been forced to repeat using beddings and stay with dirty wards for days as casual workers,” Araja said.

Delamare Deya, a casual worker said they “have been living from hand to mouth and we are afraid the schools will reopen next month with empty pockets.”

“We have been moving and knocking doors in different offices looking for help and it seems Obado has left his administration on auto-pilot,” Deya said.

Susan Libra who said they are suffering at home with the family, as they have nothing event to put food on the table.

Migori county health executive Kephers Nyamita he said he was aware of the stalemate.
