Drama unfolded at the Civil registration offices in Migori County as desperate parents flocked the offices demanding for speedy issuance of birth certificates that date back to 2018 to enable their children get admitted to form one and also register for KCPE exams.

The parents led by Esther Morrine said that some of the parents applied for the certificates in 2018 and have not yet received the crucial document.

She said that the desperate are flocking the offices to make sure that they get the document to make sure that they register their children for the Kenya Certificate of primary Education and also get them be admitted to form one.

She added that most of the children she is handling at her orphanage have got no birth notifications and the registrar’s office has been delaying the issuance of the certificate until they get the notifications that have slowed down the process and made some parents get more frustrated.

Another parent Jared Ogada said that the process is very slow and most of the parents have travelled from very far flung areas and have to get the documents to make sure that they get their children get admitted to form ones.

Agnes Atieno a teacher asked the secondary school head teachers to accept the form ones who have birth certificates notifications get admitted to various schools and leave the parents to continue pushing for the issuance of the certificates at a later time.

She termed the process as a disaster since the officers were taking the parents in circles and issuing certificates at a slow pace and yet the form ones deadline for admission is at the end of the week.

Migori County registrar of birth and deaths Aggrey Khamudari told Migori News that they are considering the form ones and issuing them with the certificates and also making sure that they do not delay them for admission.

He said that the officers are working hard to make sure that they process 600 certificates daily to reduce the flocking and backlog of the crucial documents at the offices.
