Oyugi Ogango principal didn’t succumb to Covid 19, ignore rumours- officials

Migori education officials have dispel rumours of Oyugi Ogango principal Martha Ouma succumbing to Covid 19 on Tuesday morning.

County education officer Elizabeth Otieno said the teacher passed on at Nightingale Hospital in Kisumu.

“It is sad that social media posts attributed the death to Covid 19, this is false and alarming,” she said.

“She was unwell for long and the death has shocked us, we are waiting for further deaths and results from the ministry of health on what might have caused her death. We discourage alarm over the death with un-confirmed reports,” she said.

County health executive Iscar Oluoch said the cause of death is not yet established.

Migori county Kuppet secretary general Orwa Jasolo said the death has shocked them, and said rumours about Covid 19 might have been caused by five teachers who are currently at Covid 19 isolation and treatment center in Nyatike su-county.
