Oyani woman burns her daughter hands over Sh400, still free

Migori county police have been left with their hands tied after a woman from Oyani Maasai burnt her daughter’s hands over Sh400.

The minor took the money to pay for her school fee after being sent home from school.

Migori County Police Commander Joseph Nthenge said that they are yet to receive any information concerning the case.

“We are not laying on the ramous, criminal case must be reported for the police to take action, up to now nowhere in Uriri sub-county such kind of report has been made,” said Nthenge.

Speaking from Migori Referral Hospital, the minor said her mother tied both her hands poured paraffin and put it on burning gas cooker before she escaped to an unknown destination.

Grace Moraa the grandmother who is currently taking care of the girl said the incident was unfortunate.

“I got information from my daughter neighbors’ who told me of the incident, but am not been able to reach my daughter since the incident,” said Moraa.

Moraa said that her daughter Tiviner Nyanchira 22 years old is a single mother with two children.
