Following the open policy on the Uriri Constituency bursary format, the CDF kitty is compiling over 4,500 applicants.

Uriri MP Mark Nyamita said for the sake of transparency, he has broken the constituency level CDF committee and will constitute each in 110 polling centers.

“I won’t have a few people seated in the constituency dictating and vetting applicants across the constituency, this will be prone to corruption,” Nyamita said.

The legislator said he had taken the gesture as out of 110 polling centers in Uriri he won in 106, which “makes the whole constituency to be my stronghold.”

“What will happen is the applications will be placed in each center where the public will set and pick the most deserving students among themselves,” he said.

He said that way, double beneficiaries from other bursaries and undeserving applicants will be locked out to give more funds to scholars.

“I won’t have a case where applicants will get Sh2,000 each which will be a drop in the ocean, the process will be open enough for all to be satisfied,” Nyamita said.

Jordon Omino, the Uriri constituency office manager said currently staff from legislator’s office have been working overtime to ensure all forms are cleared ahead of vetting.

The two leaders were speaking on Wednesday at Kamsaki, Got Uriri and Lwala areas during the ongoing public participation forum for the use of CDF kitty.

This is the first forum to be organised by a legislator in Migori county.
