Boda boda riders inn Kuria region have complained of high insecurity as robbers are targeting their bikes and selling them off in Tanzania.

They have accused local police for doing nothing despite numerous reports.

Josiah Gatibari, one of the victims who lost his bike said the gang pose as customers before pouncing on them in the course of their journey before they escape towards the Kenya-Tanzania border.

“There is a group of young men who have ganged up to snatch motorbikes from boda boda operators. They masquerade as customers and we carry them but few minutes into the journey, they fish out their crude weapons and order the operators from their motorbikes,” said Josiah Gatibari, a victim from Ntimaru township.

Chacha Kehaga, the chairperson of Kuria East Boda Boda Association said the most affected areas are in Ntimaru and Isebania towns bordering Tanzania.

“The police should help us end this menace as it has really affecting livelihoods of many who depend on the trade,” Kehaga said.

Attempts to seek redress from area police bosses failed.
