A woman died at Migori Posta junction in a morning accident involving motorbike and a bus along the busy Migori – Isebania highway.

According to Migori Police boss Joseph Nthenge, Eside Mugarusha was riding along another passenger Stella Midecha, 56, when their motorbike rammed into a Nya Ugenya bus that was headed towards Migori main stage.

Nthenge said the two women alongside the motorbike rider Charles Obuya were rushed to Migori County referral hospital with serious injuries sustained from the accident.

Penina Oteigo, a clinical officer at County referral hospital casualty department who received the accident victims, said Mugarisha was received at the facility, few meters from the accident scene already dead.

The Nyaugenya bus driver however sustained serious injuries after being beaten by other bodaboda riders when he stopped the vehicle after the accident but was saved by police officers who were around.

Nthenge said the bus driver had been arrested and the bus towed to Migori police station in accordance to the law and driver will be produced in court.

The police commandant also urged road users who are involved in road accidents not to interfere with the scene and wait for police “to come and do their job” after some bodaboda riders hid the motorbike that was involved in the accident.

He urged all road users to be careful on the road as accidents cares tend to rise during festive seasons.
