Suna East MP Junet Mohammed insisted that the ODM party only recognise North Kanyamkago MCA George Omamba as the Migori deputy speaker, throwing into disarray his impeachment.

Junet said that the decision by Migori MCAs to impeach Omamba on May 8 was null and void as the party still recognise Omamba.

“We know MCAs took Omamba out, but as the ODM party we only recognise him as the deputy speaker of Migori, we will talk to them,” Junet said.]

He was speaking at Onyalo Mixed Secondary on May 31 during a funds drive where he also hosted Homa Bay Women Rep Gladys Wanga, Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi and Alego Usonga MP Sam Atandi.

“I want to thank Junet for being an open minded politicians, I believe anybody who will want to go against him will first have to face me,” Omamba said.

This comes after Omamba heavily lobbied the ODM leadership led by ODM leader Raila Odinga to regain his seat while at the same time appeasing governor Okoth Obado’s supporters in the county.

Omamba was two days ago among leaders who went to see off Odinga as he flew outside the country and in playing double cards has been close to Obado especially after he lost his mother in law.

The move by Junet is seen as a warning shot fired at Obado and his cronies that the party still holds sway in the assembly.

A week ago, Obado’s wife Hellen, his assembly point man Masaba MCA Abedi Maroa and other leaders were in Rongo to campaign for South Kamagambo MCA Shardrak Nyawade, seen as a replacement to Omamba.

Omamba has already received court orders barring MCAs from election a new deputy speaker.

Kaler MCA Thomas Akungo’s motion to impeach Omamba was signed by 45 members and supported by 46 members who voted for its favour in the house. Nobody opposed it as two members abstained from voting.

Nine members to make up 57 total in the house did not turn up in the assembly.
