Mombasa governor Hassan Joho

An aspirant in the Migori Senatorial by-election Eddy Oketch has labelled leaders in the ODM team campaigning for his rival Ochillo Ayacko as liars and selfish.

Speaking in Migori town Wednesday, Oketch said the rival team led by Mombasa County Governor Hassan Joho and Suna East MP were peddling lies riddled with malice during their campaigns.

Oketch said the ODM team had turned their rallies to avenues to discuss him instead of selling their agenda to the public.

This comes after the ODM team claimed Oketch was being funded by Deputy President William Ruto.

In a rally held in Migori town yesterday, Governor Joho asked Oketch to come open on who is funding his campaigns.

“We want  you to ask him [Oketch] who the own of the chopper he is using is. Ask him to come with the owners of the chopper,” Joho said.

But Oketch dismissed the claims saying he was running his campaigns the same way he did during the last general election.

“Am not using a chopper for the first time  and I ran a bigger campaign last year and even the public know that,” Oketch said.

Oketch who is vying on a Federal Party of Kenya ticket said he helped the Joho and Junet during their campaigns in the last general election but had chosen to malign his name.

“Why is he selfish now and he is using propaganda to tarnish the name of a young man whose big mistake is a serious passion to help Migori County?” Oketch said.

But Oketch said he enjoys massive support from locals as opposed to his rival who is being supported by ODM leaders

“I’d rather spend most of my time trying to reach communities in Migori who can give me a chance to lead than trying to link up with people who are not relevant to Migori,” Oketch said.

Campaigns have intensified and ODM leader Raila Odinga is expected to in the county to drum up support for Ochillo Ayacko.
