Migori Woman Representative candidate on Jubilee Party ticket Lillian Akugo has said political jitters created by ODM party under Azimio la Umoja are unfounded.

Akugo said under the Azimio la Umoja parties their main agenda will be to ensure their leader Raila Odinga is in State House on August 9.

He was speaking on reaction by ODM national chairman John Mbadi against other Azimio la Umoja parties.

“We have to portray a face of unity and inclusivity to other regions of the party since Raila has sought the presidency for long, we need others to see this,” Akugo said.

Akugo said other aspirants under Azimio will ensure politics does not end at nomination level which will not only increase democratic space but increase voter turnout for presidential vote.

Her sentiments were shared by Dansam Ouma, a Political Science graduate from University of Nairobi said the fear among most winners of coveted ODM ticket from nominations will face fresh challenges and use of Raila image by others.

“Any other candidate on Azimio la Umoja ticket can use Raila’s image and water down claims by ODM candidates that they are out helping Raila, politics will be based on agenda,” Ouma said.

He said in Migori, serious challengers have opted out of ODM for Azimio la Umoja parties which have created political headache for the party.

Aspirants, elected leaders and ODM officials, the most popular part in Nyanza counties have been shunning joint rallies and meetings with others from sister parties of Azimio la Umoja creating tension.
