Nyatike MP Tom Odege has said he won’t turn up at Wath Ong’er in his constituency on Friday for distribution of relief food by Ministry of Information, Communication and the Digital Economy led by Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo.

Odege said he and other elected leaders were not invited and while speaking to Onagi FM said the exercise, though noble will be used to antagonise local leaders and the behest of those supporting president William Ruto.

Owalo will from November 11-13 relief food will be distributed in Migori, Homa Bay, Kisumu and Siaya counties.

“I am aware of the food distribution, but as the area legislator I was not called officially in the matter, most elected leaders in the area too have complained about the same,” Odege said.

He said several elected leaders from the region too have complained of being sidelined, as those who have been pro-government have been given a move to organise the meetings.

“I was not invited at the function, so I won’t be there out of respect. We hope that those relief food distribution won’t be used as a political tool,” Odege said.

He called on Nyanza residents to turn up in large numbers and collect the relief food since the region was shocked when food was only being flagged to other parts of the country.

“Despite not making it there, we know large number of people will turn up to pick the relief food,” Odege said.
