Obado pay full medical bill for two police brutality victims at Ombo

Migori governor Okoth Obado on Friday paid the full medical bill for two last victims of police brutality at St Joseph Ombo hospital.

Obado was represented by his political advisor Denis Orero and Suna Central MCA Christopher Onanda to help pay the bills for the last two, who were among 14 people shot by police in deadly October 13 anti-IEBC demos.

Shadrack Otieno, 35, was shot six times and already had four bullets removed. Two others were to be removed at a referral hospital.

Michael Ochieng. 30, was shot four times by police and still had two bullets which were to be removed at a referral hospital.

Already the last person, Stephan Ouma is at Tenwek Hospital in Bomet County who underwent seven operation to remove three bullets on his head and neck.

“We paid the full bill for the last two victims and will cater for their referral bills later,” Orero said.

Onanda who was to host the Mashujaa Day celebration said they skipped the function because “our Mashujaa are victims of police brutality who want reforms in elections.”

The bill amounted to over Sh30,000.
