A teen girl from Nyikendo village died as she tried to procure an abortion at a clinic within Oruba Estate, Migori town.

Joyce Esomange, 19, was found dead at the clinic after her parents reported that she had disappeared from home on January 2.

According to Migori police boss Moses Chepyegon, the deceased disappeared from home and was only found at the clinic after her attempts to get an abortion went wry.

Chepyegon said they have already arrested two people in connection with the incident and they are helping police with investigations to try and arrest the clinic owner.

He said the deceased is alleged to have been procuring abortion and unfortunately she passed on .

The police boss said that the suspects arrested are still held in police custody as the police investigate the matter.

The body is preserved at Migori level four hospital waiting for autopsy
