Uriri MP Mark Nyamita has asked local leaders to support a World Bank project aimed at upgrading Migori, Awendo and Rongo towns.

The project valued at 516 Million has seen leaders exchange bitterly with others saying some regions were sidelined.

Nyamita said the money was a grant from World bank which should not be politicized and urged leaders opposed to it to change their narrative.

The MP said the County Government can look for more funds to consider towns that feel left out.

He also faulted the leaders who have filed a case in court to have World Bank decision reversed to include other towns saying they should focus on the big agenda of moving the County forward.

Nyamita’s sentiments comes after Kuria East MP Marwa Kitayama led section of Kuria community to protest the project for leaving out Kehancha town.

Two weeks ago Marwa and Migori Governor Zachary Obado clashed in Kegonga over the project.

Obado criticised Marwa for antagonising Kuria Community against his Government saying the World Bank project is a conditional grant which came with towns already decided.

But Kitayama has termed the move to leave out Kuria towns as political and now want Governor Obado to explain how the decision was reached.

Last month, Awendo MP Walter Owino and his Rongo counterpart Paul Abuor accompanied Governor Obado during the launch of the project.

Nyamita was speaking at a funeral in Ranen yesterday.
