No foreigner will be counted in Migori during census- government

Migori County Commissioner Joseph Rotich has directed Assistant Chiefs working along borders to ensure no foreigner is counted as Kenyan national. 

Rotich while briefing the press over county preparedness to under national census exercise Saturday warned that Assistant Chiefs will be held responsible if foreigners from neighboring countries are counted as Kenyans. 

Commissioner Rotich reiterated chiefs should ensure Kenyans are counted as Kenyans while foreigners as foreigners insisting that individuals who would give wrong information to the census officials will be punished by law. 

He however said that fishermen at the shores of Lake Victoria have been instructed to relax shortly on their fishing expedition during so that census can take their number. 

The CC revealed that fishermen at Muhuru, Sori and other fishing grounds had agreed to remain in their homes during the counting period. 

Rotich further noted that security arrangements had made to ensure residents and the census officials are protected during the enumeration period. He said police will be patrolling during the entire census period.

He said that the census officials had received all the necessary materials and ready under take the counting exercise. 

Speaking at the same time, Migori County Women Representatives Dr. Pamela Odhiambo called on the parents and guardians ton children or adults living with disability are enumerated. 

Odhiambo regretted that some parents and guardians conceal information on their having children with disability saying they are denying them their rights. 

The Women Rep. however reiterated that residents should give accurate information to the census officials to allow government plan well while allocating resources.
