NASA MCA’s at Migori County government have assured North Kadem MCA Boaz Okoth of a resounding win in a repeat of speaker’s election.

This is after Migori high court nullified the election of Okoth as the speaker and his deputy George Omamba.

High court judge Hillary Chemitei ordered the election be conducted within 14 days.

Speaking in Migori after the verdict, South Kanyamkago MCA and NASA parliamentary group chair Graham Kagali said they will rally behind Okoth for his reelection.

“I assure majority group which is the NASA coalition at the county assembly that we will rally behind Boaz Okoth so that we make sure that we validly, as the court has said within fourteen days, elect him as the speaker,” Kagali said.

Leader of Majority party Mallan Ogega they will elect a member of NASA.

“We as the majority group at the assembly have resorted to rally behind a member of NASA and will elect Boaz Okoth as the speaker. There is no doubt about that,” Ogega said.

But Boaz Okoth said he will respect the courts verdict and present himself for the reelection.

“We don’t have a problem with the verdict of the court and I will wait for the position and preparedness of the clerk to have the reelection,” Okoth said.

He added, “I will prevail myself upon them (MCAs) again as the court has said and they are here reassuring me that it will even be greater than the last time.”

Okoth added that Migori MCA’s will not allow Jubilee to infiltrate the Migori assembly.

“It is now just too much on us. A Jubilee person in Migori County. We cannot be foolish as Migori County. This is an ODM and therefore NASA zone,” Okoth said.

But speaking after the ruling leaders from both sides of the case welcomed the courts verdict.

“My client welcomes the court verdict and is very much ready to take place in the fresh elections of the speaker,” Mwitas lawyer Kennedy Bosire said.
