The Lwala Community Alliance (LCA) an NGO operating its activities in Rongo sub-county has donated free school uniforms and sanitary pads to 13 primary schools in the area.

Speaking during the opening of a new classroom that was built by Lwala Community Alliance, parents and area community at Kadianga Primary School, Hellen Goro the Programmes Director at the NGO said the donation programme will enable the vulnerable school pupils to have an enabling environment to learn and concentrate.

“The free uniforms and sanitary pads will help the vulnerable students to be decent and presentable in school and prevent dropout,” Goro said.

She said that out of the 13 primary schools in North Kamagambo Ward, the alliance was sponsoring 100 vulnerable girls.

“This part of our continous support in Migori to ensure learners are catered for in order to achieve their dreams,” she said.

She encouraged the pupils to be focused in their education and help build a better society in future.

Goro also pointed out that the organisation has a School Fee Social Programme that has so far been able to sponsor 45 students from primary level upwards to secondary with their basic needs.

The Lwala Community Alliance so far has educated a total of 240 vulnerable girls including those that had dropped out due to early pregnancies, she said.

“We help these vulnerable girls through counselling and mentorship programmes apart from providing them with free uniforms and sanitary pads. When we do reentry we ensure we maintain these vulnerable girls and ensure that they transit to high school so that we can achieve our 100 percent transition, said Goro.

The Assistant Director of Education Rongo Sub County Grace Obuya lauded the Lwala Community Alliance for their contribution to the donations and encouraged them even to do more to help the less privileged and vulnerable students in the society to achieve their education dreams.D

The Headteacher of Kadianga Primary School Ms. Aisha Otieno thanked the Lwala Community Alliance, the community and parents of Kadianga primary school for partnering with them and helping them set up the classroom.
