Migori County on Tuesday received Personal Protective Equipment, water tanks, soap and blankets worth close to shs 5 million from different well-wishers to fight Covid-19.

According to Migori County Government Secretary Christopher Rusana, the 500 PPE were donated by the National Government after intervention from ODM party leader Raila Odinga.

He said Raila response came after Migori Governor Zachary Obado briefed him on situation of Corona Virus in the county after it recorded 14 cases all reportedly linked to neigbouring country.

Meanwhile British American Tobbaco together with Lake Victoria South Water Services Board donated 100 water tanks as an effort to support handwashing as key requirement in fighting Covid-19.

Mark Kiprop BAT Corporate Manager said the company recognizes Migori as one of its stakeholders which has prompted them to support Corona Virus war.

Mirriam Siwa, Lake Victoria South Water Services Board official while addressing Migori County Corona Virus Resource Mobilisation Committee said the board approved 48 water tanks as the first step and respond with resources later.

At the same time, Migori County Government Chief Executive Member in charge of Trade, Cooperative and Tourism, Sheila Ghati said small traders have adversely affected by Corona Virus restriction measures.

Ghati said Migori County welcomes efforts to manage Corona Virus which according to her will help in reviving businesses which have already collapsed.

The CEC who is also a resource mobilization team member said the committee will start distribution of some resources to targeted places. He said the resources will be distributed equitably in 40 Wards.
