Kuria West sub-county police has scaled up a manhunt for a man who killed his brother for assaulting their mother.

Kuria West police boss Cleti Kimaiyo said the incident happened at Gwikonge village and was reported by a local  who is currently under witness protection.

Sagamo Nyakimi,30, murdered his brother Hamisi Nyakimu Gimonge 33, believed to be mentally ill while defending their mother Rebbecca Nyakimu,62.

“The mother ran inside Sagamo’s house to seek refuge from attacks by the deceased. A fight ensued between the two brothers that ended up tragically,” Kimaiyo said.

The suspect picked a machete and hacked his brother to death before escaping with the murder weapon.

The body is at Ombo Mission Hospital mortuary.
