“Reports from relatives and neighbours indicate that the couple has had long standing domestic feuds which may have led to the murder. The suspect escaped towards Tanzania,” he said.

The suspect, a secondary school dropout, is a casual labourer who worked in Tanzania for months and came home to find his wife pregnant.

“The man had issues with the pregnancy. He claimed that he was not responsible but the wife maintained he was the one responsible. It is unfortunate that it has ended this way,” said a relative who asked not to be named.
