Over 200 students at Kodero Bara Secondary School in Rongo have been spending night in the cold after property of unknown amount of money was reduced into ashes.

The school’s Principal Jim Agutu said the fire started at 5am and consumed a dormitory and students’ property.

Agutu said the school is looking for alternative accommodation for the 200 affected students, urging well-wishers to support the school.

“We are yet to establish the cause of the fire, but will work with to get to the root cause of the matter,” he said.

Rongo Knut branch deputy chairperson Michael Ochieng blamed the cabinet Secretary of education Fred Matiangi over the rampant fire incidences in school.
