The Kisii University Migori campus at Zaodon plaza within Migori town has effectively been closed by government.

The campus is among Kitale and Kabarnet campuses closed by the Commission for University Education for below par standards in a letter written on Wednesday.

“This is to inform you that during the 111th University management board meeting on February 21, 2018, the university board approved the closure of [these] campuses by May 1, 2018,” the letter read.

The letter was signed by university Vice Chancellor John Akama with instructions that all property belonging to the university should be removed from the campuses by May 31 to avoid extra costs.

The campuses have been marred by claims of non-payment of lecturers, lack of teaching and learning materials.
