Kanyasa (Nyatike) MCA elect Jackiepol Ongoro has declared interest and is lobbying her colleagues to be elected the Deputy Speaker.

Ongoro, a medic, said she has taken the move to boost gender equality in the house with only three elected female MCAs.

“Apart from this i have tract record of leadership and development before being elected, i will use this to seek unity in the assembly,” she said.

Her stance received a boost on Monday during the swearing in ceremony of governor Okoth Obado as Nyatike MP elect Tom Odege called for the speaker post to remain in Nyatike.

The post was previously held by North Kadem MCA Boaz Owiti Okoth, who is lobbying to be a speaker
