Women Representative Dennitah Ghati (ODM) has called on Kuria members and Migori county residents to ignore his Kuria West counterpart Mathias Robi (URP) 2017 remarks.

The Two legislators from Kuria community in Migori county have differed over how the community will cast their presidential vote in next year polls.

Speaking to Migori News over the phone earlier today, Ghati said the statement by Robi last Friday during a prize giving day at Nyankore Secondary School that the community will vote in Jubilee leaders in next polls without being forced by the majority Luo voters was “personal.”

Robi said that even though the community is a minority in the county, the majority Luo community which is strongly in opposition Cord should not dictate the community voting pattern for sharing of county posts. (READ THE STORY HERE)

“In next general elections we will still vote for Uhuru Kenyatta as we are sure Jubilee will still in power and the community can’t be left in the opposition cold. We will also vote in other Jubilee candidates ” Robi said.

“We are sure of getting the Kuria community to vote as a bloc for Jubilee in ward and national politics because we have steady development benefit from our votes in last polls,” Robi said.

But Ghati said the legislator doesn’t speak for the Kuria community which is “strongly CORDed and the community has not benefited from Jubilee.”

“The development project said by Robi doesn’t include in Kuria East region ,” she said.

Ghati said that ODM leaders in the community will ensure that Raila Odinga gets 100 per cent votes from the community in 2017.

In last polls Jubilee won the Kuria East and Kuria West legislators while through Cord the Kuria got Women Representative, senator and deputy governor positions.

Robi said among development the community have enjoyed include tarmacking of three roads (Migori-Kehancha-Tarang’anya, Sirare-Kehancha and Mabera-Getong’anya, Nyankore-Masaba), building of Kehancha Medical Training College and Mabera Technical Institute.

He insisted that several community members have benefitted from state appointments.
