NEMA has raised concern to the Migori County Government over the mass collection of garbage at Lililopo in Lichota hindering airstrip expansion.

Head of NEMA Migori County, Mr. Fanuel Masago, said expansion of the Lichota airstrip has been stalled due to the garbage piling up and it is a health hazard to the residents.

Masago has received numerous complains from residents due to the overwhelming stench from the pill up and wants County Government to find an alternative dumping site.

“For easier waste disposal, the County Government should put in place garbage trucks and ferry all the dump to a suitable environment “, Migori’s NEMA said.
