Florence Hotel has sued Migori county assembly for not footing bill amounting to Sh2.2million after MCAs, staff and guest ate at the hotel since 2014.

The bill was also raised by members of the Migori Assembly Public Service Board after the hotel said it “offered hospitality supplies and services to the guests and members of Staffs” of the assembly after winning a tender on October 2014.

The hotel is represented by Omonde Kisera and Company Advocates an in court papers saud they have already received part payment of “Sh100,000 and Sh659,190 leaving a balance of Sh1.4million.”
Now the hotel wants the remaining amount paid in cash.

But the assembly though Okong’o, Wandago and Company Advocates have denied “any arrangement” with the hotel to offer the services.

It said all MCAs, staff or its guest who dined at the hotel did so at personal level calling for the case to be thrown out as they are not “liable, they are not having been privy, either jointly or severally to that arrangement.”

It terms the charges as a “vain attempt to extort public funds and in attempt to recover debts which are not due at all” distancing from two earlier payment as part of the debt.

“In the event such payment has been made” then it was in full and not part of any debt, the assembly insisted.
