A drunk man in Nyabikongori village murdered his step mother in cold blood over a land dispute.

Migori police launched a massive manhunt for Joseph Chacha Riso, 25, after he hacked his mother Wanguru Riso with a sharp panga.

The suspect hacked his mother on the head and left arm before running in hiding.

The two quarreled over a piece of land left behind by the suspect’s dead father as inheritance, a move which the deceased has been against.

Migori OCPD Joshua Opiyo said the two have been having a protracted quarrel over the parcel of land.

He said the deceased passed on while being taken to Akidiva Hospital where she died from excessive bleeding.
