County resume health services at Referral hospital

Services at Migori county referral hospital is back to normal having interrupted for one day shortage of water and power outages.

Kenya power disconnected supply to the hospital with over a Sh 700,000 debt an water pipes leading to the hospital were damaged.

Migori county government has cleared all the debts and repaired the damaged water pipes that were the source of the problem experienced in the hospital.   

Speaking with the press in his office Migori county health executive Elijah Odhiambo has said the county government have already cleared all the bills owned and are have acquired a generator to help in case of power shortages.

“We have already cleared the problem we had and this was just a one day issue not as but we already acquired a generator that will see us not involve in such problems again.

The department of health set aside 600M for the upgrade of hospital and buying drugs this year.

The sector also was among the top three best performing sectors in a recent poll conducted in all the 47 counties in the country.

“We were ranked as the best performing department in the nation and this we expect to improve more come next year, we will not allow such loopholes for such an active department,” He added.

The hospital was upgraded to a referral level and this could see the department enrol patients not only within the county but also the neighbouring counties.

“Our department has also improved in terms of man power as we have recently employed more staffs that will work in all the health hospital in the county and referral being one of them”. He said. 

Recently, the county government received equipment worth Sh300 million in the health sector from an USA organisation and this will enhance quick service delivery of the sector.
