Migori has launched investigations over the death of pregnant woman at a dispensary on Saturday.

County Health Chief officer Dalmas Otieno led a team at Nyarongi dispensary where they held a day long discussion which journalists were barred from attending.

Oyugi however downplayed the issue terming the incident an isolated case.
“The dispensary has enough medical personnel,” Oyugi said, while dismissing claims of negligence by the health practitioners.
The deceased Mourine Akoth, 34, developed incessant labour pain before being taken to the dispensary.

“We were immediately received and ushered into the delivery room by one of the hospital attendants. There was no nurse on sight to attend to her,” a relative said.

Media established that Akoth had been attended to by a cleaner at the facility as all medical staff and nurses were nowhere in sight.
“She suffered from profuse bleeding after a successful delivery, sadly nurses said they never work during weekends,” a witness said.

Tom Odhiambo an uncle to the deceased accused the hospital administration of gambling with lives of area residents by deserting duties despite having emergencies.
