County government aids Rapogi High School fire victims

Migori county government has come into aid of Rapogi High School following a fire incident that saw property worth Sh3.6million go up in flames earlier this week.

Through the Ministry of Environment and Disaster Management, Migori donated 100 mattresses and 80 blankets to the affected students.

County executive in charge of the ministry Elijah Odhiambo issued the donation which  approximately cost Sh200,000  will be given to the students who lost their beddings in the inferno.

Odhiambo also said the ministry has set aside Sh500,000 to help the school recover and will also help in buying 200 iron sheets to aid in the reconstruction of the dormitory.

The ministry Chief Officer Rosline Otieno urged the community and students to help police investigate the fire incident which she said was started by arsonists.

The fire consumed a dormitory with a capacity to house 77 students.
