Legio Maria Pope Romanus Ong’ombe has passed on on April 12, 2020.

His body is at St. Joseph Mission Hospital mortuary after being taken from Got Kweru, the holy hill by the church where the founder Melkio Ondetto is buried.

The sect chairman Joseph Warambo told press that the pope died aged 96 years leaving behind seven children, three sons and four daughters with several grand and great grandchildren.

Ong’ombe became pope in 2009 from Raphael Adika sparking off wrangles which has shaped the church ever since after death of founder Melkio Ondetto in 1992.
