Building Bridges Initiative should be supported by all Kenyans because it addresses the challenge of ‘winner take all’ after competitive elections, Principal Secretary Industrialization Francis Owino has said.

PS Owino said the document has been generated by experts after looking at the trend of divisions during and after general elections that has continued to divide Kenyans.

He spoke during tree planting drive at god Agongo hills in Uriri Sub-County where he mobilized the members of the public to sign their details for referendum approval.

The PS asked over 500 members of the public present at the tree planting exercise to sign the IEBC referendum approval form before the planting of the trees. Over 10,000 indigenous trees were planted.

Owino said the BBI document has strong backing from President Uhuru Kenyatta and the ODM leader Raila Odinga, a scenario which should be emulated by all Kenyans by working, sharing, and living together in peace.

The PS noted that Migori County witnessed the worst post-election which was brought by the constitution which remains silent on what happens to election losers.

Migori County Commissioners Boaz Cherutich present at the meeting urged the residents to protect the forests and especially the planting of indigenous trees which he said are friendly to the environment.
