Demonstrators

Awendo town was earlier today rocked with demonstrators who demanded that Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC) replace the area RO Musa Oketch Olwalo over claims he is related to governor Okoth Obado.

Carying twigs and placards, the demonstrators invaded the IEBC offices in Awendo Cereals Board where they found locked offices.

“We want IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati to replace Olwalo before the August 8 poll, we have no faith in him to have credible elections as he is related to Obado,” Pamela ‘Nyar USA’ Achieng’ said.

They claimed they are afraid the constituency which is governor Independent candidate Ochilo Ayacko stronghold may be tempered with.

“Obado and Olwalo both come from Uriri constituency and hail from Kanyamkago clan. We see him being planted here to create havoc in polls. We will not allow that, we will continue demonstrating until he is replaced,” Wycliffe Odete, a demonstrator said.

But Olwalo said he was not related in anyway with Obado as claimed by the demonstrators.

“I am not related to Obado in anyway, i come from Central Kanyamkago ward while Obado is from North Kanyamkago,” he said.
