The Migori County Public Service Board will continue to illegally operate without a secretary four years after devolution when assembly rejected a nominee by governor Okoth Obado yesterday.

The operation places the board at a precarious position which means appointments and employment done can be challenged before a court of law.

Assembly on Wednesday rejected Obado’s nominee Martin Shikuku on grounds of breach the constitution.

Martin Shikuku, who is from East Kamagambo came fourth among interviewees and was said to have been picked out of political favoritism.

Eric Gogo, the Macalder- Kinyarwanda MCA said according to the law the governor could have picked the first two names presented to him from assembly via Labour and Welfare committee.

“By picking Shikuku, he tried to get votes from Rongo which should not be the case,” a MCA said.

North Sakwa MCA Timon Mbogo said they will not allow the governor to violate the constitution to satisfy his own political ambition.

But a livid East Kamagambo MCA Joshua Ongoma said he will not allow any political leaders especially the governor to campaign in his ward is Shikuku is dropped.
