APs arrested for shooting dead a pregnant woman

Migori police are holding two Administration Police officers who accidently shot and killed 25 years old pregnant woman.

The deceased’s body was taken to Migori Level Four hospital.

The woman was shot on her thighs and bled profusely at Bondo Nyironge area last week. The woman had gone to collect a debt from a house when the bullet hit her.

Festus Kiambi, the Migori CID boss said the two officers have been held as they continue with investigation.

“The two will be taken to court after we complete our investigations,” Kiambi said.

Area assistant chief Jared Kadiga said the officers who are stationed at Bondo Nyironge AP post at gone to arrest a suspect at Suna Raha village where a scuffle ensued before the gun was fired accidently.

Kadiga said the officers had tried to arrest a suspect’s brother after a woman reported being assaulted by her husband to them.

Angry villagers demonstrated as the two officers fled leaving behind a motorcycle which was burnt.
Residents said the two had to fire in the air severally to escape from villagers wrath.
