Nyatike MP Edick Anyanga has called on chiefs and their assistants to work closely with registrars and residents in acquiring IDs ahead of 2017 polls.

He said lack of IDs have hindered voters registration drive carried by politicians, civil societies, IEBC and political parties.

“Chiefs should make it easier for the public to acquire the vital documents by desisting from asking for kick-backs before issuing of the documents,” he said.

At the same time the legislator challenged the Migori county government to give priority to county residents in allocation of tenders and job opportunities especially for youths and women.

He was speaking at Pefa Cathedral church on Sunday during a funds drive where Sh1.4million was raised and urged church to pray for president Uhuru Kenyatta and Cord leader Raila Odinga.

“The church should pray for the two to steer the country through peace and prosperity,” he said.
