Anyanga held by police, to be arraigned in court over shooting incident

Immediate former Nyatike MP Edick Anyanga is being held by police over a shooting incident in the constituency.

Anyanga was held at Migori police station and will be arraigned at Migori High Court after police finalised their investigations over July 24 shooting incident.

Migori county police commander Mark Wanjala said the ex-legislator will be charged after the shooting incident at Lwanda center in the constituency “and recorded a statement with police. We confiscated his firearm as we probe the matter.”

The ex-legisaltor’s firearm, a pistol Sig Sauver and a magazine with 12 live ammunition of 9mm caliber was confiscated.

On July 24, a report at Lwanda Police Post by Calvin’s Nyerere Omondi said he was in the company of his friend Justus Ochieng Joshua, 35, when they were confronted by the ex-legislator who was in his vehicle.

In the altercation Joshua was shot in the abdomen and taken to Sori Lakeside Hospital before later being transferred to St Joseph Ombo hospital in a stable condition.

But in the past interview, Anyanga said he shot in the air fearing for his life and was protecting himself.
