Anne Omodho Anyanga, the Migori governor aspirant has said she will consider a running mate from Kuria community but said the Orange Democratic Movement party will decide.

She said first the community should help pick her running mate who she will vet before passing the name over to Orange House which often makes that decision.

She said the mate should probably be a man for gender parity.

“The final decision will lie with the Orange House as that is the decision,” she said.

She was addressing opinion leaders from the Kuria community at a hotel in Kehancha town.

But she challenged the Kuria community to look beyond a running mate as the current governor Okoth Obado has a Kuria deputy but they are complaining of being sidelined.

“It’s in Kuria that you have refused to pay taxes due to poor roads and services in health stations. Your traders have complained of being locked out in tender process which only favour some clans and selected individuals. I will address that,” she said.

When asked if she will pick any deputy out of all other aspirants she said “I don’t see anyone worth being my deputy for among aspirants.”

“I am the only woman aspirant among a pack of men. I don’t see anyone who is even worth being my deputy among the list. Some couldn’t even make a make as legislators when they were elected,” she said.
