Migori Parents Association has raised alarm that over 10 per cent of school going children in the county are pregnant with the ongoing closure because of Covid 19.

Julius Keverenge, the county chapter chairman of Kenya Parents Association told press in Migori town that the figure may rise as school reopening is set to be extended.

“As an association we have done research which shows 10 per cent of girls who should go to school are pregnant, we fear more will will no report back to school,” Kiberenge said.

The chair also said most boys have started to abuse drugs.

“Most parents have failed in their duty during this long holiday, most think parenting duties should be done by teachers,” he said.

Keverenge said they support Education CS George Magoha call to continue closure of schools because of Covid 19.
